Thailand – Nothing like Thailand
It is no secret that one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia today is the kingdom of Thailand, and for good reason. Thailand is as diverse and multi-cultured a city as it is hospitable, and the exotic sights and sounds to behold, from the bustling economic center of Bangkok to the luxurious hotels and beautiful beaches of Pattaya, are always a source of pleasure and fascination for tourists the world over.
Modernization has found its root in Thailand – businesses have sprung up almost overnight, and modern skyscrapers stand side by side with ancient religious landmarks. Thailand boasts one of the biggest number of print publications in Asia, headed by the Bangkok Post, one of the more widespread broadsheets in the country. And yet, there is something about Thailand that remains exotic and alluring.
It could be the cuisine. Thai recipes range from spicy to sweet, with generous helpings of fish sauce and fresh herbs. Fro the hot and sour soup tom yan gai, to red or green curry flavoured with hot chillies and basil, and pork or chicken satay, Thai food has always been an adventure worth taking, whether it be roadside vendors or formal restaurants.
Take a stroll through Bangkok and take a part in more than 15,000 night markets stalls or the popular Floating Market, or immerse yourself in a full Bangkok massage. Bangkok hotels are numerous and often available, and the city itself is considered safe. Temples and museums abound throughout Thailand's capital, and it only costs 50 cents to take the convenient Skytrain. There are many different things to do in Thailand; aside from the many dinner shows that offer singing and dancing steeped in Thai cultural arts, spectators often flock to watch Muay Thai, Thailand's national sport. Muay Thai involves a series of elbow, knee and kicking techniques, which are then use together with a series of holds to take the other opponent down.
For weekend trips, Pattaya is the place to go. Pattaya beaches are known for their beauty, as much as they are for the Pattaya nightlife, which consists of different bars, discos, and night clubs. Pattaya hotels number almost 35,000, from the luxurious to the comfortably cheap.
Thai Airways and Bangkok airways offer affordable tickets and occasional promos; Bangkok airfare is not as expensive as other Asian destinations, making it a frequent choice for tourists. Almost everything in Thailand can be enjoyed for a modest fee and will be easy on the pocket. So for those looking for a fascinating vacation that's also easy on the pocket, Thailand is easily the first choice that comes to mind. |
